Everyone in Utah seems to have these mushrooms in their yards thanks to the awesome rainstorms that have visited us over the last week. My question is, why do they grow in a circle formation? It's a little freaky to me. It makes me think of aliens for some reason, perhaps because they remind me of crop circles? It may also have to do with my recent dream about UFOs that looked like bats descending in a circular flying pattern, but ended up being birthday cards that came in through my window.
This is my view from the driver's seat. Every once in a while, I glance back and see one eye looking back at me.

So cute that he watches you while you drive. :) I think I remember reading in Summer of the Monkeys that when mushrooms grow in a circle like that, it's considered a "fairy ring" and if you stand inside it you get to make a wish that will come true. (It came true in the book.) So maybe it's worth a shot!
I heard that the mushrooms grow in a circle like that because one circle of them has one root system and they're all part of that one root and that's just how the plant springs forth. Don't ask me where I heard that cause I can't remember. I just know that it makes sense, even if it's not true.
They're also fairy rings...
